In Memoriam - Sister Roseann Flynn, O.P.

​Sister Roseann Flynn, O.P. (formerly, Mary Ann Flynn) a member of the Sisters of St. Dominic of Blauvelt, New York for the past 66 years , died on February 10, 2018 in Saint Martin De Porres Community at Saint Dominic’s Convent in Blauvelt, New York. Sister Roseann was 91 years of age.

Sister Roseann was born to Michael and Rose Ann Maguire Flynn on October 27, 1926 in County Leitrim, Ireland. She entered the Sisters of St. Dominic on July 16, 1952 from St. Patrick’s Parish in Albany, New York. Sister Roseann received the Dominican habit on January 27, 1953, professed her first vows on January 28, 1954 and made her final profession on April 24, 1957. Sister Roseann’s 64 years in active ministry were devoted to caring for the sick as a nurse. Sister’s early years in ministry included St. Dominic’s Convent (1954-1955 and 1969-1971) and St. Joseph’s Hospital, in Kingston, Jamaica (1955-1969 and 1973-1977). From 1971 to 1973, Sister studied for her nursing degree at Spalding Hospital in Spalding, Jamaica. On returning to the United States in 1977, Sister Roseann ministered in St. Dominic’s Infirmary (1977-1995); volunteered in the Congregation’s Communications Office (1995- 2013); and since 2013 until her death, she was in prayer ministry.

In addition to her religious congregation, Sister Roseann is survived by many cousins. She was predeceased by her parents, Michael and Roseann, and her brother, Michael.
