This week’s “Embracing Faith” article will focus on Embracing Faith through Prayer.

Embracing Faith Through Prayer

“Strive for full restoration, encourage one another, be of one mind, live in peace.

And the God of love and peace will be with you.” -2 Corinthians 13:11

Over the weekend, America celebrated its 245th birthday.

While many of us celebrated the holiday with loved ones or by attending festive events such as barbecues or fireworks, there were still many Americans throughout the country who viewed this day in a negative light and felt a lack of national pride.

As our country continues to approach the end of the pandemic, it is time for Americans to come together and remember that we live in a country where we are free to embrace our individuality and have disagreements with others. Whereas, presently, there are other countries where speaking out against authority can lead to severe punishment.

One way Americans can unify with others they may disagree with is by praying the Prayer for Unity in America.

Prayer for Unity in America (1)

God, help us begin to heal and move forward.

Where the sting of grief weighs down our souls, bring Your comfort.

Where fear of discrimination disturbs our peace of mind, fill us with trust in You.

Where unfair judgments shroud our ability

to see the good in each other,

help us connect at the heart of our common humanity.

Where the darkness of hatred hides within us,

bring it to light and replace it with Your love.

Remove the blinders of prejudice from our eyes;

help us to see each other clearly as Your beloved children.

Give us the courage to be accountable for our actions and attitudes which harm others,

and give us the strength to forgive those who have wounded us.

Open our hearts to be kind to one another as we learn and grow.

Strengthen us in our most broken places; Make something beautiful out of our pain.
