All Souls Day

By Katie Beckmann Mahon, Communications Manager

This week’s “Embracing Faith” article will focus on Embracing Faith through Prayer.

Embracing Faith Through Prayer

“Truly my soul finds rest in God; my salvation comes from God.” -Psalm 62:1

November 2nd is All Souls Day, a day meant to honor and remember those who have gone on to their eternal rest.

Throughout November, the Sisters of Saint Dominic of Blauvelt, New York, will honor the dead and pray for the souls of those no longer with us.

Beginning today, November 2nd, until the end of the month, our sisters will remember and pray for the souls of the faithful departed in our daily Masses.

Please visit our website if you would like to submit a name for the Sisters of Saint Dominic to remember and pray for.

Along with honoring and remembering those who are no longer with us, please take time to pray for all souls.

Prayer For All Souls (1)

Dear God of Mercy,

I pray this day for all souls,

both known and unknown to me,

who, although touched by death,

have not yet entered Your Heavenly Kingdom.

While they loved you in their lifetime,

they failed in some way to attain

the perfection Heaven demands.

So in my love for them, I offer my prayers,

my small works of mercy in the hope

that Your mercy will flow to them and

bring them to eternal peace with You. May they intercede for me for the graces

I may need to live out my life on earth

in perfect obedience and love of You, my God,

so that I, too, may join them in everlasting life with You in Heaven. May the souls of the faithful departed rest in peace.
