Marilyn DeWitt, Associate, was a member of the Sisters of Saint Dominic of Blauvelt, New York since November 8, 1986 when she took her Associate Commitment until her passing on December 1, 2012.
Born in Bayonne, NJ on November 21, 1928, she was the daughter of Walter and Mary Wickersty Sweeney. On June 28, 1952 at St. Vincent's Church in Bayonne, NJ, she married James Raymond DeWitt, who predeceased her on June 30, 1975.
Marilyn had worked as the secretary at St. Columba School in Hopewell Junction for many years. She was a parishioner of St. Columba Church in Hopewell Junction and Corpus Christi Church in Chatham, New Jersey. She was an associate of the Third Order of the Dominican Sisters of Blauvelt and a member of the New Providence Senior Citizens Center.
Marilyn's lasting legacy is the love she nurtured and shared with her family; her children, grandchildren and friends. Everyone touched by this love has been, and will continue to be lifted up in prayer with extraordinary faith and devotion to our Heavenly Father through Jesus Christ, His Son. As a mother there was no equal, as a friend there was none better. "Well done, good and faithful servant." (MT 25:21) Marilyn is survived by her children, Mary Ellen LaRose and her husband Raymond of Hopewell Junction, Noreen Potterton and her husband Daniel of Marlboro, NJ, Kathleen Fitzgerald and her husband Kevin of Newtown, CT, James R. DeWitt, Jr. and his wife Nancy of Newark, NY, Nancy Donahoe and her husband John of Concord, MA, Elizabeth Rotunno and her husband John of Annapolis, MD, Robert DeWitt and his wife Elisa of Fishkill, Theresa Turner and her husband Jim of New Providence, NJ, and Monica Frese and her husband Vincent of Cumming, GA; her sister, Carol Nissen of Lavalette, NJ. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Christopher, Kevin, John and Peter LaRose; Daniel, Michael, Christian and Annaleigh Potterton; Kevin and Kara Fitzgerald, Kelley Fitzgerald Girnys and her husband Raymond; James R. III and Meghan DeWitt; Julia and Alex Donahoe; Anthony, Katherine and Nicholas Rotunno; Lukas, Kyle, Dylan and Kayley DeWitt; Caroline, Ryan, Kelsey and Jillian Turner; Emily, Austin and Maria Walsh, Caroline, Kaitlyn, Anna Riley, and Vincent Peter Frese.
