“These are, beloved ones, the inheritances that I leave you – have charity among you; hold to humility; possess voluntary poverty.” -Saint Dominic
August 8th is the Feast Day of Saint Dominic.
Throughout the world, members of the Dominican Order will celebrate today and pay tribute to the life and works of Saint Dominic de Guzman.
Saint Dominic is known for preaching God’s Word on the road and laying down the foundation for a new religious congregation, the Order of Preachers, presently known today as Dominicans.
On Sunday, August 4th, the Sisters of Saint Dominic of Blauvelt, New York, came together as a congregation with several members of the Dominican Sisters of Sparkill, family, and friends, for their annual Saint Dominic’s Day Celebration at the Blauvelt Motherhouse.
The Celebration began with a special Mass in the Chapel of the Most Holy Rosary, where several Sisters and Associates renewed their religious vows and commitments, respectively.
As members of the Dominican Order gather to renew their vows, commitments, and celebrate, please wish them a happy Feast Day and pray that they continue to follow in Dominic’s footsteps and preach God’s Word wherever they find themselves.
