In front of a live audience, host Sister Maxine Kollasch, IHM, interviewed Sisters Jennifer Schaaf, OP, and Terry Rickard, OP of the Sisters of Saint Dominic of Blauvelt, New York.

Throughout the interview, Sisters Jennifer and Terry discussed their individual vocation journeys, lives, ministries, and the Blauvelt congregation (as a whole.)

When asked what her favorite thing about being a member of the Sisters of Saint Dominic of Blauvelt, New York, Sister Terry answered, “The community of sisters and the connection we have.”

During the live interview, viewers all throughout the United States submitted questions for Sisters Maxine, Jennifer, and Terry.

One viewer from Utah asked how can she can make her vacations more retreat like and disconnect more. Sister Jennifer shared her own personal experiences about how she goes on vacation differently from going on retreat and gave a valuable insight to view “Retreats as vacations with God!”

A viewer from Wisconsin asked for advice about whether it is possible to be passionate about becoming a Sister, as well as a wife/mother. This particular viewer had been struggling with this issue and looking for advice. Both Sisters Jennifer and Terry spoke about their own journeys, as well as experiences they knew of others dealing with similar situations. They both suggested to “go on dates” with potential partners, as well as with Congregations, to see what her calling truly is.

Sister Michaela Connolly, OP, Prioress of the Sisters of Saint Dominic of Blauvelt, New York was in attendance at the interview and expressed her gratitude for the Ask Sister podcast staff, Sister Maxine Kollasch, IHM, and Sister Julie Myers, OSF, who filmed the interview.

“The live taping at our Motherhouse was a wonderful experience for all of us. We are grateful to Sisters Julie and Maxine from A Nun’s Life for selecting our Congregation. Our sisters, Jennifer and Terry, who were interviewed, have a great passion for our Dominican life and mission and transmitted that beautifully during the taping.”

The full audio version of Sisters Jennifer and Terry’s interview on the Ask Sister podcast will be available in 1-2 weeks and can be found on Apple Podcasts or on www.anunslife.org/podcasts/ask-sister.
