Sister Beryl Herdt, O.P., Awarded St. John’s University Pietas Medal

BLAUVELT, NY (6/6/2017) - Blauvelt Dominican Sister Beryl Herdt, O.P., was awarded the prestigious Pietas Medal from St. John’s University on Saturday, June 3, 2017, at their University Alumni Award Ceremony held at St. Thomas More Church in Queens.

Sister Beryl, who graduated from St. John’s University in 1967 with her PhD, commented, “To receive the Pietas Medal is both humbling and elating. I am most grateful as I was fifty-eight years ago when St. John’s entered my life as a much needed blessing.”

Prior to St. John’s University, Sister Beryl earned a Bachelor’s Degree and Master of Science Degree, both from Hunter College.

Sister Beryl ministered as an educator and college administrator at Hunter College High School, Lehman College (then known as Hunter College in the Bronx), and Dominican College. At Dominican College, Sister Beryl received the 50th Anniversary President’s Commemorative Medal in 2003.
