SISTER MARY P. MALONE, formerly Sr. Arthur Mary, who was a member of the Sisters of St. Dominic of Blauvelt, New York for the past 62 years, died on November 8, 2022 at Montefiore Nyack Hospital, Nyack, N.Y. She was 80 years of age.
Sister Mary was born to Arthur and Margaret (Casey) Malone in the Bronx and entered the Sisters of St. Dominic on September 8, 1960 from St. Luke’s Parish in the Bronx.
Sister held the BS in Elementary Education from Dominican University, Orangeburg, N.Y., the MS in Adult Education from City College, N.Y., and the MSW from Fordham University.
Sister Mary’s many years of active ministry were devoted to elementary and adult education, and service to her congregation. She taught in the following elementary schools: St. Anthony, Oceanside, N.Y., St. Paul, Daytona Beach, Florida, and St. Luke, Bronx, N.Y. Sister Mary was also principal at St. Nicholas of Tolentine and St. Benedict schools, both in the Bronx, N.Y. and served as Director of Adult Education for the Archdiocese of N.Y.
She was Formation Director for her congregation, Parish Minister at Our Lady of Good Council in Manhattan, N.Y. and Social Worker and Supervisor of residence services at St. Dominic’s Home, Blauvelt, N.Y. Sister Mary served in elected leadership, first as a Regional Coordinator, then as Councilor and finally as President of the congregation. After leaving leadership, Sister Mary was appointed Executive Director of Marian Woods, a NYS Licensed adult care facility and convent shared by sisters from several congregations in Hartsdale, N.Y.
In addition to her religious congregation, Sister Mary is survived by her brother Bob and sister-in-law, Marie, her sister-in-law, Veronica, and many nieces and nephews, and grandnieces, and grandnephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Arthur and Margaret, and her brother, Donald.

WAKE: Thursday, November 10, 2022 from 4 p.m. - 8 p.m.
EVENING PRAYER: 6 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial: Friday, November 11, 2022 at 10:30 a.m.
Burial will take place in St. Dominic’s Convent Cemetery.
Arrangements have been made by Hannemann Funeral Home, Nyack, New York.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sisters of St. Dominic of Blauvelt, New York.
