In Memoriam - Sister Joanna Glover, O.P.

Sister Joanna Glover, OP, formerly Agnes Mary Glover, a member of the Sisters of St. Dominic of Blauvelt, New York, for the past 61, years died on May 1, 2014 in St. Martin de Porres Infirmary. Sister Joanna was 79 years of age.

Sister Joanna Glover, O.P.

Sister Joanna was born to Hanna Cronin Glover and James Glover on June 14, 1934, in the Bronx, New York. She entered the Sisters of St. Dominic on February 2, 1953 from St. Anselm's Parish, Bronx, NY. Sister received the Dominican habit on August 25, 1953, professed her first vows on September 6, 1954 and her final vows on September 6, 1957.

Sister's many years of active ministry were devoted to education as teacher, principal and pastoral associate. She taught at the following schools: St. Luke, Bronx, 1955-1963 and St. Anthony, Oceanside, NY 1963-1964. She was principal of St. Martin de Porres School Poughkeepsie, NY 1964-1970 and St. Anselm School, Bronx, 1970-1971.

From 1972- 1977 Sr. Joanna was Formation Director for the Sisters of St. Dominic of Blauvelt, She served as a member of the congregational Leadership Team, 1979-1984; as Pastoral Associate at Holy Angels Parish, Little Falls, NJ 1985-1999; as Pastoral Minister at Siena House, Bronx, NY, 1999-2000. Due to failing health, Sr. Joanna retired from active ministry in August of 2000. In addition to her religious congregation, Sr. Joanna is survived by her nieces Joan Wire and Maureen Glover and her nephew Jim Glover. Sister was predeceased by her brother George Glover.
