EVELYN T. REDNER December 18, 1927 – January 11, 2018
ASSOCIATE COMMITMENT: August 4, 1996
Evelyn was born in NYC and attended Guardian Angel School and Textile High School. Following graduation she worked as a typist at the NY Stock Exchange. In 1947 Evelyn married Robert Taylor and they had three children. They left the City for Ozone Park, Queens and finally settled in New City in 1956 where they became parishioners at St. Augustine’s parish. After Robert’s death in 1967, Evelyn returned to the business world as a Customer Service Representative at the Bank of New York in New City for the next 21 years until she retired. She then worked part-time for the County of Rockland as an Insurance Clerk.
Evelyn married Floyd Redner in 1972 who predeceased her in 1986. She is survived by children Robert Taylor, Deborah Campbell, and Steven Taylor, five grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
While working for the County, Evelyn was introduced to the Blauvelt Congregation by Associate Pat Michel. She understood that associates shared the same values and ideas of Christian living as the sisters did. When she became a Eucharistic minister she felt God’s arm on her shoulder and the same warmth of God’s hand as she became an associate. Evelyn often visited the sisters to enjoy playing Bingo with them.
She was a member of St. Augustine Church in New City where she was a Eucharistic Minister, served on the Bingo Team, and was a member of the Prayer Group, Bible Study Group, and the Cornerstone Retreat Committee. She was also a past president of West Nyack Senior Citizen Club.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Augustine Church in New City and she was buried at St. Anthony Cemetery in Nanuet.
