Embracing Faith Through Self-Care

“Commit your work to God, and your plans will be established.”-Proverbs 16:3

As many of us return to our regular routines and responsibilities this week after some well-deserved time off during the holidays, some of us may be pondering, “What will 2022 mean to me?”

Are you one of the individuals who make countless New Year Resolutions or focus on one? Will your resolutions be based on your personal or professional lives? Will you choose to travel more and seize the day?

Regardless of what type of resolutions you choose to make, it is crucial to ensure that self-care is the center of your goals and focus for 2022.

To kick off 2022, several Sisters of Saint Dominic of Blauvelt, New York, as well as staff members at St. Dominic’s Convent, shared their New Year Resolutions below.

  • “…to continue to find balance and integration between the active and contemplative parts of my life.”-Sr. Mary Ann Collins, OP

  • “To be more present – to appreciate and enjoy what is happening at the moment instead of thinking about what has to be done next or what I can do to improve things.” -Kristin DeGuzman, Development Assistant at St. Dominic’s Convent

  • “To follow through and complete my spirit-led weekly intentions.” -Sr. Jo-Anne Faillace, OP

  • “Look for the blessings in my life.” -Sr. Ceil Lavan, OP

  • “Worry less, pray harder.” -Sr. Loretta Lynch, OP

  • “Put down the electronic devices and spend less time scrolling on them.” -Katie Mahon, Communications Manager at St. Dominic’s Convent

  • “To embrace any and all changes that come my way.” -Sr. Bridget Mary Troy, OP

  • “To be more physically active and get outside.” -Tess Warren, Assistant Archivist at St. Dominic’s Convent
