Fifteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time
Isaiah 55: 10-11 Psalm 65 Romans- 8:18- 23 Matthew 13: 1-23

Today’s readings tell us the Kindom of God is hidden in plain sight. We just need to open our eyes, minds, and hearts to see it. We tend to overlook the important things in life. It is so easy to do. Take planting a seed, for example. We place it in the soil and walk away. Beneath the surface, something miraculous is happening. Roots stretch downwards and life begins to unfold. In time, what was small and tiny grows into something that gives shade, shelter, and even nourishment. Jesus spoke about God’s kindom in this way. Something quietly unfolding in the midst of everyday life.
In the parable of the sower, Jesus explains how, where, and why a seed will take root…on fertile soil, not among weeds or on rocky ground. Much like the crowd that had gathered to hear Him speak, some people listened with fertile ears, while others got stuck caught in the weeds and rocks of life.
Where are you in this crowd? Are you willing to take root and allow yourself to grow into someone who gives shade, shelter, and nourishment to others? By the grace of God, let it be so.
Blessings on your journey.
