Embracing Faith Through Giving: Giving Tuesday

By Katie Beckmann Mahon, Communications Manager

This week’s “Embracing Faith” article will focus on Embracing Faith through Giving.

Embracing Faith Through Giving

“You will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us, your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.” –2 Corinthians 9:11

In a few days, people will come together with their loved ones to celebrate Thanksgiving.

Besides eating a filling Thanksgiving meal, many will spend the day watching football and holiday specials on television, while others will volunteer with local charities. Some may participate in Turkey Trot races, and others may be planning out their shopping strategies to capitalize on the Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales.

However you choose to spend your Thanksgiving, and the days that follow, it is important to highlight an additional observance that occurs next week.

Giving Tuesday - December 3, 2019

Tuesday, December 3rd is Giving Tuesday, a day and global movement dedicated to supporting charitable organizations that are making a difference.

In 2012, Giving Tuesday began with the simple goal of having “a day that encourages people to do good.” Since then, the day has evolved into a global movement that has inspired millions to donate to charities throughout the world. (1)

On this Giving Tuesday, please consider supporting the Sisters of Saint Dominic of Blauvelt, New York.

The Sisters of Saint Dominic are committed to bringing hope and mercy to people in need with special concern for those who are poor and on the margins of society.
