Becoming Dominican is a deepening of our discipleship in the Word of God. It is a response to a call to live interdependently with others in the context of the Dominican Family and the world. The Dominican way of being a disciple is to contemplate the Word of God in prayer, integrate it into every aspect of our life and preach it to the world.
What is it like to be a Dominican Sister?
You are a part of a lifetime Community
As a Dominican Sister of Blauvelt, you are a part of a lifetime community full of women of faith. Throughout your life, you will have opportunities for service, ministry, vocation, justice and even leadership within the congregation.
You are living the Dominican Mission
As Dominican Sisters of Blauvelt, our lives are shaped by the Four Pillars of Dominican Tradition: Prayer, Study, Preaching/Ministry and Common Life.
You are a Preacher of Truth
Preaching is at the heart of our ministry. As Dominican Sisters of Blauvelt, we heighten awareness and dedicated support of people who are poor and marginalized. Many reach out to our Sisters for Prayer Requests and to read Scripture Reflections.
You are building a legacy that will be remembered
All of the Dominican Sisters of Blauvelt, both living and deceased have built legacies that will forever be remembered. We are grateful for all of our sisters and those who support us.
