Sister Anna Marion Romanisky, O.P., formerly Sr. Casimir, a member of the Sisters of St. Dominic, Blauvelt, New York for the past 84 years, died on February 4, 2016 in Blauvelt. Sister was 102 years of age.
Sr. Anna Marion was born to Antoinette Lucas Romanisky and Benedict Romanisky on August 27, 1913 in New York City. She entered the Sisters of St. Dominic on August 15, 1932 from St. Thomas Aquinas Parish, Bronx, N.Y.
Sister received the Dominican habit on March 7, 1933, professed first vows March 8, 1934, and her final vows on March 8, 1937.
Sister held the B.S. in Education from Catholic Teachers College, Rhode Island and the M.S. in Education from Fordham University.
Sister's many years of active ministry were devoted to the education of youth and parish ministry. Her ministries included the following schools: St. Pius, Bronx, 1934-1940; Holy Cross, NYC 1940-1946; St. Raymond's, Providence, R.I., 1946-1951; Holy Rosary, Yonkers, 1951-1957; St. Joseph's, Millbrook, N.Y. 1957-1961; St. Luke's, Bronx, 1961-1966, and Principal of Our Lady of Victory, Bronx, 1966-1969.
Sister moved to St. Paul's Parish, Daytona Beach, Florida in 1969 where she taught in St. Paul's School, 1969-1979 and performed parish services 1979-1996.
In 1996 Sister returned to St. Dominic's Convent where she provided volunteer services.
In addition to her religious congregation, Sr. Anna Marion is survived by her nieces: Frances Falkowski, Joann Altman, Jean Hornung, Victoria Mitchell, Teddy Como and nephews: John Falkowski and Ronald Philips and John Philips. Sister was predeceased by her sisters, Frances Falkowski and Helen Philips and her brothers, Stanley and Charles Romanisky, as well as her niece Maryann Humanitzki.
